1 Vesey Slave Plot
истЗаговор рабов (1822) в г. Чарлстоне, шт. Южная Каролина. Заговорщики во главе с Д. Визи [ Vesey, Telemanque (Denmark)] намеревались убить местных рабовладельцев и захватить город. Визи удалось создать тайную организацию, состоявшую из "ячеек" ["cells"], планы которых были известны только руководителям. Заговор был раскрыт с помощью негра-осведомителя. В результате 36 человек, включая Визи, были казнены по приговору суда, 34 заговорщика высланы из штата, и 61 человек был оправдан. (1767-1822) Визи, Телеманк (Денмарк)Руководитель заговора рабов. Родился в Африке, в 1800 был привезен в США работорговцами. Тогда же выиграл 1500 долларов в лотерею и откупился от хозяина. Работал плотником, выступал с проповедями, занимался самообразованием. Задумал план восстания рабов в г. Чарлстоне, шт.
